10 Techniques to Develop Personal Growth from Home

You spend a significant amount of time at home for work, raising your family, or just because it’s your happy place. That doesn’t mean your personal growth has to take a back seat. There are many ways to continue your personal growth journey without leaving your home. The key is stay motivated, committed to the process, and to take action.

It may be in your best interest to start your personal development journey now and take it to the next level. As long as you have bits of free time, you can always improve your self-growth, so take advantage of it and fill that slot with things that will push you forward.

Consider some of these techniques:

1. Read. You can still buy real books and order eBooks at your leisure. Your local library still has a procedure in place for checking out books. You do not have to leave home to read; you can always go online and search for the content you’re interested in. There are a plethora of things to get your juices flowing and your mind running with excitement. Read about them so you can expand your personal growth through educating yourself.

2. Exercise. Any amount of exercise needed for most people; you can get at home.

  • Think of all the exercises that don’t need expensive gym equipment. For instance, running, playing a sport, or gymnastics. You don’t have to take up any of these things, to reach that level of fitness. You can workout at home by joining fitness or dance apps and follow along with many trainers for way less than you’d spend on investing into gym equipment.

3. Take up meditation. Meditation is a perfect personal development tool to use when at home. Meditation can help you with how to focus your attention at a higher level and it also reduces stress. Not to mention, it’s free, so that’s a plus.

4. Take online courses. There are many online courses for just about anything you can think of educating yourself on. You can learn to speak a language, design a home, play the drums, or how to live a minimalistic lifestyle. They are easy to find and a great way to speed up the process of finding and working with a mentor. Courses also take the guess work out of what to do next because everything is laid out for you.

5. Writing. Establish your skill to write. Written communication is valuable and best started by keeping a journal. It doesn’t matter where you start your story, just get your memories out on paper. Or if you’re tech savvy, use a Word Document to journal so it’s easier to search for things later. There are many useful methods to develop yourself through written work. You can use it as an outlet to express your feelings, work out some past issues, or even create a blueprint for an autobiography.

6. Invest in a mentor. Use some of your time at home to seek a mentor or coach. With the use of the internet, it’s pretty easy to find a coach in whatever personal development area you’re seeking, be it life, business, or talent.

  • Whatever it is you want to tap into, a coach can cut years off the learning curve. People are always willing to teach the next person in line, what they know and how they got there. If said person doesn’t already have a course for you to take, reach out and see if you could schedule some time to chat or have a pick your brain session.

7. Take on a positive habit. Now is a fantastic time to start a positive habit. By adding a few positive habits over the next few months, think of how much personal growth you can accomplish in a year. Habits are automatic once you have them developed, so they come as second nature and you won’t have to work on them anymore.

8. Drop a negative habit. Your bad habits have caused so much damage throughout your life. By getting rid of one negative behavior, you can change life for the better. Negative habits can be hard to shake, but if you’re at home, now is a great time to try and eliminate it without outside distractions

9. Find your blind spots. There’s something about you that you don’t know is hurting you at the moment. Find out what it is and change it so you can be better prepared on how to use it in your favor.

  • It’s difficult to see your weaknesses, or to see other’s perception of who you are. This will certainly take you being honest with yourself. However, once you figure out your weak spots or shortcomings, you’ll have the ability to accomplish so much more.

10. Start a business. Do what you love and turn it into a business, so you can generate income. There are many sites out there that will assist in selling products that you create. You can do voice overs if you’re good at reading. Publish a book and become a Best-Selling Author. Record your talent and sell it as a course, teaching others how they can do it. The possibilities are endless.

You’re likely at home more than you want to be, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop your personal growth journey and watch the paint dry because you’re bored. Imagine how much free time you’d have to develop your personal growth, if you eliminated the time you spent watching reality TV and playing on social media. Use that time to build a foundation so you have something to work toward when you need a break from your daily routine.

You never know, something may change, and you’ll be out of the house more than ever living it in other ways that make you happy. Take advantage of this opportunity and use the time you have to create the life you want through personal growth.
